An Old Block Of Wood

So over the weekend we went to Mike's parents camper up North. We love it there. It is beautiful with all the woodland creatures and the coolest pond right out back that all the boys had but their sweat and tears into a couple years back. Kain loves running around and being outside, and luckily we had a beautiful weekend, but this post is not about our weekend at the camper, or the weather, or what we did, but about a block of wood that I took from there. Right next to the fire pit there was a large pile of brush that needed to get burned, so as the weekend progressed we would add that brush to our fires at night. Well on one of these occasions Mike came upon a block of wood, about the size of a ruler, actually a bit smaller. Before he tossed it into the fire I said.... STOP. I want that wood. Ahem, now take your minds out of the gutter. Either way I saved this block of wood from its immanent fiery death. Everyone laughed and could not figure out why it was I wanted this old, dirty piece of wood. I would just smile and know that I had found a treasure. The day after we got home I gave my block of wood new life. With a little cleaning, paint, and some creativity I turned it into some thing golden. At least that is what I think, as for everyone else I will let you decide.

Here you can see my block of wood sitting on the tree stump under the baby monitor. It even had another useful purpose back then.

And Now the Final Project.....

And they laughed.
